Lessons
Our goal is to provide students with a positive
experience in music education. We encourage an appreciation
of music and musicians and foster a desire to play to the best of
their ability.
McKinney Guitar Studio uses various study
materials developed by John Wynn. These include "Playing the
Guitar" method book 1 and 2, the "Fingerstyle Sketches Series
1-10", the "Ensemble Studies", the "Classical Repertoire" book 1
and 2, "Igniting the Blues", and various solo guitar
arrangements by Chet Atkins, John Knowles, The Beatles and other
artists.
“I love the way Mr.
John teaches.
He teaches in a style that
makes you want to learn.” – Preetam, 11
“John has been very
supportive of Dylan, and in turn, Dylan is devoted to his
instruction.
I feel fortunate that Dylan has
found a passion outside of his school activities.” -Bryan Ward,
student’s father
Beginning students are taught to
read music and count rhythm.
They will recognize all aspects of music notation,
and are introduced to varying styles of music through discussion and listening.
Students are also encouraged to participate in fun group activities.
Advanced students are encouraged to
assist in writing arrangements and participate in workshops
featuring out of town artists that are sponsored by the studio.
Both daytime and evening lessons are available
Monday through Thursday. Please call the studio at 972
562-3993 for available times.
